3 day long Intl sci-tech conference concluded
Scientists, engineers and researchers from 12 countries assembled in a 3 day long sci-tech conference which came to an end on Saturday through accepting 715 abstracts at Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR).
'Digital Bangladesh is now a reality, in spite of all sorts of mockery and lame criticisms of opponents', said Dr. Hasan Mahmud, Information Minister of Bangladesh while concluding the closing session of the conference.
He explained that, Farmers nowadays can receive expert suggestions from the agricultural officers from their farmlands while the latter are at their offices. Telemedicine now is a reality; Parents now can receive remittances from their children abroad while they are living in villages, he added.
While speaking in the concluding session, the minister appreciated the efforts made by the researchers of Bangladesh saying, 'inventing various types of high yielding rice and crops in saline water are some notable achievements of Bangladeshi researchers which enriched not only Bangladesh but also the whole world.'
Bangladeshi scientists from home and abroad have been contributing relentlessly to transforming Bangladesh from a poor country to a medium-income country. This achievement was possible because of their intelligence and contribution in the field of science and technology.
Muhibul Hasan Chowdhury, State Minister for the ministry of education was present in the session as the chief patron while the program was chaired by Prof. Dr. Aftab Ali, Chairman, BCSIR.
The State Minister gives his directives to the BCSIR to translate the scientific journals from countries like Iran and Germany and make it optional for school students to read through.
Among other participants, Dr. Shahana, Gynecologist and the Director of Rajshahi Mother Clinic, Prof. Dr. Nilufar Nahar, Chairman, Technical Session delivered their speeches. A vote of thanks was given by Dr. Muhammad Sarwar Jahan, Secretary of the ICSTB 2021 Organizing Committee.
In the conference, 12 parallel sessions on 25 subjects were held virtually. Out of these sessions, 6 plenary lectures on the Scientific and technological philosophy of Bangabandhu and 8 lectures on Scientific issues.
At the same time, 69 key-notes and 68 introductory speeches, 389 verbal presentations and 175 posters on various scientific issues.
Abu Kausar, a Scientist of BCSIR won the best poster prize working on a multi-functional solar simulator. while T. Rahman from Barisal University won the fist runner-up prize and Rajat Shuvra Cakrobarty, a scientist of BCSIR, Dhaka got 2nd runner-up prize working on Chatal Boiler.
